A passion born through travel.
A graduate of Vatel, an international hotel management school, Louis Rigaud built his vision of hospitality through professional experiences in Ireland and Cambodia. It was while travelling and staying in Airbnbs himself that he recognised the potential of short-term rental — a sector where hotel-grade standards remained rare.
He joined a Lyon-based concierge company for three years, learning every dimension of the trade: listings management, revenue management, housekeeping coordination, owner relations, crisis handling. A total immersion, field-level and daily.
Armed with that background, he founded SmartStay in Annecy with a clear ambition: to bring premium hospitality standards to short-term rental across Alpine and Lyon markets. Today, we are building a team trained in hospitality, at the service of the owners who trust us.

A Vatel graduate, Louis shaped his hospitality vision through professional experiences in Ireland and Cambodia. Drawn to the Airbnb model, he spent three years at a Lyon concierge company mastering every aspect of the trade. He founded SmartStay in Annecy with the ambition of bringing premium hotel standards to short-term rental across the Alps and Lyon.
Present since almost the very beginning, Max knows the property portfolio inside out. Highly personable, always available and attentive, he ensures every property is well looked after and supports both owners and the team with responsiveness and professionalism.
Louis's mother and the team's most experienced member, Chantal handles all administrative matters and assists with accounting. Rigorous, reliable and dedicated, she plays an essential role in SmartStay's day-to-day organisation.
With solid experience in short-term rental management — including running a concierge operation of over 20 properties — Clotilde brings deep yield management expertise gained at major hospitality groups. Her role: optimising performance, pricing and occupancy for every property.
